Sign-painting

I recently got the opportunity to create a banner for a local non-profit organization called Renewed Roots Initiative.  They wanted a unique, hand-made banner to hang at their market stall, something that would stand out and catch the eye of passers by.  I loved RRI’s mission to bring food security to the local population in Aurora through Community Supported Agriculture and community garden plots.  It reminded me of the old WWII campaign for “Victory Gardens” and I wanted to pull from that nostalgic, vintage feel.  I referred to old seed advertisements and posters for inspiration.  I painted everything free-hand on recycled canvas I found at the thrift store. It doesn’t get much more vintage than that!
