We’re starting the basement bathroom today! Originally I thought we would have the bedroom and main living space completed before beginning the bathroom, but those spaces are still in various stages of construction. Sometimes you just realize that you need another toilet, and the sooner the better, so why wait?
This basement bathroom is also a utility room. It holds the furnace, water heater and UV filters. The main bathroom is located directly above it so the plumbing is all ready to use. We just have to clear all the random items being stored there and probably take down decades of unused wires that lead nowhere, you know how basement ceilings are…
The toilet is going in under the stairs and we have a very basic plastic slop sink that will do for now. The layout makes it almost impossible to completely hide the furnace and water heater, without blocking a window or door, so we’re not even going to try. I’m just going to clean it up to look shiny and new and go for an industrial look, with exposed pipes and ceiling.
